Reggie Bush parts ways with adidas

When Reggie Bush entered the NFL in 2006 (yes, it’s been that long), his eight-figure portfolio of off-field marketing deals included adidas.  They pushed the limits of NFL rules, with Bush initially wearing adidas shoes even though adidas had no shoe deal with the league.  (Bush was fined $10,000.)

Shortly thereafter, adidas struck a deal to permit Bush and other players to wear its shoes during NFL games.  And for the first seven years of his career, Bush wore the characteristic three stripes of the adidas line on his feet.

Bush now will be sporting a swoosh.

Per a league source, Bush’s deal with adidas has ended.  He’ll start the new phase of his career wearing Nike shoes and apparel.

We looked into the situation after the folks at spotted Bush wearing Nike shoes at a recent practice.

Bush earned millions in endorsements as one of the most-hyped college players ever to enter the NFL.  Coupled with the money he earned as the second overall pick in the days before the rookie wage scale, Bush likely has more than enough money to carry him through the decades he’ll live after his football career ends.

Probably because he joined the Lions, it would give Adidas a bad image

Don’t forget the money he earned playing for USC. Rumor is he had to take a pay cut when he went to the NFL.

    Reggie Bust.
You seem to just like using the word “bust” in your vernacular, because if it were not for Reggie Bush’s presence on that Saints team they would not have been able to get to the Superbowl when they beat the Colts.

Yes, Reggie Bush has a Superbowl Ring and Matt Ryan, Tony Gonzalez, Roddy White, Adrian Peterson, Philip Rivers, Brian Urlacher, John Abraham, Cam Newton, Josh Freeman, Tony Romo, Jason Witten, Darrelle Revis, Sam Bradford, Steven Jackson, Michael Vick, LeSean McCoy, Percy Harvin, Calvin Johnson, and Mark Sanchez (haha) have not.

Vince young should have been hanging out with Reggie and saving money

Maybe now he will play like the player everyone hyped him to be coming out of college.

unbiasfan did you get beat up by Lions fans when you were a kid?

  13. biggs13 says: Jul 30, 2013 12:54 AM

I’m a Dolphins fan and I’m very sorry to see him leave. I think it was a big mistake by our front office. We shall see. I wish him well in Detroit. By the way, Barry Sanders is the best running back of all time.

so I love how “unbiasefan” has been the first comment for two of the Lions topics today just to criticize them. you don’t sound very unbiased to me sir. do the Lions intimidate you and your team? Go Lions

Wow — everyone is drinking the hateraid!

My thought is that yup, Reggie should be all set for life, provided that whomever manages his money for him doesn’t either lose it all or steal it all!

And hopefully he never does anything as stupid as buy into a race horse!

    Reggie Bust.
Meh, I would not call him an outright bust. I reserve that title for the Ryan Leafs and JaMarcus Russells of the world. Reggie just happened to come into the league right at the time that the passing game was exploding and running backs became disposable.

Other than AD, there haven’t been many backs that have come out in the last decade who have consistently put up huge numbers.

But then he got mixed up with a Kardashian, so the money is likely all gone.

So it was the shoes holding him back all the time!
