Report: Martez Wilson out 2-4 weeks with elbow injury

Martez Wilson AP

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton didn’t expect the elbow injury suffered Monday by linebacker Martez Wilson to be anything major.

The good news for the Saints is that Payton appears to be correct.

According to Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Wilson will miss 2-4 weeks after suffering the injury attempting to make a tackle in the backfield Monday morning.

Wilson has seen an increased role after Victor Butler was lost for the season to a torn ACL during OTAs. The timetable should allow Wilson to return before the start of the regular season.

Wilson is entering his third season with the Saints. He’s appeared in 29 games with one start over the past two years with 29 tackles, four sacks and a forced fumble.

Well if it was gonna happen, now is as good a time as any.
However, if you get hurt in training camp trying to make a non-tackle I’m not sure how things will fare for you once the bullets are really flying.

That’s a shame. I liked him coming out of Illinois. I was hoping the Texans would snag him up. Hope he gets well soon and back for the season.

If this keeps up, they’ll be putting a 2nd string kicker out there to rush the passer off the edge!
