Vonta Leach at Ravens facility taking physical

Vonta Leach AP

It appears the Vonta Leach free agency tour has come to an end, in the place where it began.

According to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, Leach has been at the Ravens facility today taking a physical, so the long-discussed move may be complete soon.

The Pro Bowl fullback was cut by the Ravens in May in a cap move, and will add something back to the offense which could use a boost.

Leach met with the Dolphins and Giants, and had interest from the Texans, but it appears he didn’t find any offers out there better than the one the Ravens offered early.

UPDATE 5:33 p.m. ET: The Ravens announced Leach has been signed.

Wow can’t believe everybody in the NFL wants to miss out on him. Oh well. Good for him to finally arrive where he belongs. It was at home all this time.

…Since when is pushing confetti along the ground considered a “physical”?

Ray Rice just moved up in my fantasy board.

I’m glad he’s coming home to Baltimore…the dude is a beast! It’s not surprising though as teams are moving away from the FBs that no one offered him more than the Ravens. I really thought the Dolphins would pick him up but I’m happy they didn’t.

Can’t wait to see him smash in Jarvis Jones’ face mask lol. This guy owns all LBs in the AFCN for sure! Welcome home #Juggernaut

Guy clearly overvalued his worth, with only three teams showing any interest. In the end he took the best low-ball offer, swallowed his pride, and took the offer he originally walked away from.

Sadly, true fullbacks are a dying breed in today’s game with the success of teams using FB/TE hybrid players.

Needed some good news for B’more. Linebackers in the AFC North just let out a very big sigh.

I really dont understand how he didnt get more interest from other teams. I realize traditional fullbacks are being phased out, but he is arguably the best out there.

Im sure a lot of teams could have used him.

Uh oh, passing physicals seems to be their Achilles heel this year.

He’s signed. Steeler defenders can look forward to smash mouth football again this year. His smash. Their mouths.

He is a FOOTBALL player! Welcome back to where you belong.

To celebrate his signing, the team took a road trip to Gettysburg, hitting every McDonalds along the way. Flacco went along and serenaded them with acoustic renditions of ‘Money’ and ‘Jump’.

Jacoby Jones passed. Bryant Mckinnie will be ready. And Upshaw is going to be mad because he has to hit RB’s at 270 instead of 290.

As a rival all I have to say is crap…but on the plus side we did keep the ravens in check last season. But he will be overpaid if Caldwell calls like he did last year.

  19. jmblosser82 says: Jul 30, 2013 12:17 PM

Your ravens averaged about 80 rushing ypg against the steelers, season average was almost 120 ypg. We also held you to 176 passing ypg and your season average was 234 ypg. Also 16.5 ppg and the season average was 25 ppg. By no means did you offense dominate the steeler defense. Your defense barely managed a split against 2 geriatric QBs. So before you brag about destroying a defense because luck was on your side and ended the season with a ring does not change the facts, and you should look for more of the same steeler defense dominance next year.

  20. jmblosser82 says: Jul 30, 2013 12:23 PM

And so you can see, the steelers season average was 185 pushing ypg and 90 rushing ypg, giving up 19.6 ppg.

I’ll admit you guys had an excellent D last year, but that still landed you at 8-8. You guys don’t seem to get the point that the league is geared towards offense nowadays. You can lean on your D all you want, but if they gave up more than 20pts last year Roethlisbereger couldn’t match and you ended up losing the game. Without an offense to match your great D will no longer get you consistent wins…

  22. scoobies05 says: Jul 31, 2013 7:01 AM

bottom line jb is this. you can make excuses and rationalize all you want. steelers just werent good enough to make the playoffs last year and the ravens won the super bowl. on to the new season

Crown, here’s a freebie for you. Ravens had an ice cream truck pull up one day after practice this week. Surprised you haven’t used that one yet.
