The Patriots have released ex-Titans wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins, Tom Curran of reported Wednesday.

In other roster moves, the Patriots waived undrafted rookie wide receiver Perez Ashford and veteran offensive lineman Nick McDonald, Curran reported. McDonald (6-4, 305) played 16 regular-season games for the Pats in the last two seasons, making two starts at center in 2011 and one start at right guard in 2012.

Hawkins, 27, signed with New England in May after five seasons with Tennessee (2008-2012). Hawkins, who played collegiately at Cal, has caught 71 passes for 771 yards and one TD in his NFL career.

With Hawkins and Ashford departing, the Patriots have 10 wide receivers on the roster.

As long as Brady is there, write down 10 or 11 wins.

And nothing of value was lost.

Denver will snap up McDonald in a heartbeat. They need a new center just that bad.

I’m surprised they let McDonald go, he can play any position on the offensive line.

He played well when they used him.

1972. 41 years ago. Vietnam, Watergate, Nixon. Saw it in a history book. As far as the NFL goes, who gives a crap? Sad if that’s all you have to cling to. Heard the Jets won a SB around that time too. So what?
