The Steelers signed veteran cornerback Ryan Steed and undrafted rookie free agent tight end John Rabe on Wednesday, per the NFL’s transactions.

With Steed and Rabe arriving, the Steelers waived rookie defensive tackle Omar Hunter and rookie defensive back Nigel Malone.

Steed, 23, had a stint on the Saints’ practice squad at the end of 2012. New Orleans waived him last week. Steed, who played collegiately at Furman, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Jets last year.

Rabe (6-4, 258) caught 14 passes for 143 yards and four TDs as a senior for Minnesota in 2012.

The Steelers are at the 90-player roster limit.

Well he couldn’t even make it on to the Saints defense so…? Nice pickup Steelers

Best in the world, right here in Pitt.

Wow! A practice squad reject and a TE who gained fewer yards in a whole year than Jacoby Jones gathered in one game.

hey jb. did the steelers pick up 2 free agents because colbert cant draft, or are they trying to improve

Rabe 6-4, 258 is a physical specimen. This will be a huge matchup problem for the Ravens undersized DB’s. Elam should start working on his high-jump.

Just because a player doesn’t fit a defense does mean they are a wash, steelers and ravens both cut Harrison before he became a starter in Pitt. But we’ll see if either even make the 53 man roster.

Steelers can’t resist plucking players from .500 teams. Especially those that can’t even win the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Here we go Gophers, Here we go!

This cornerback is still good enough to cover what leftover receivers the ravens have on their roster.

Steed was probably brought in to help build up Roethlisbooger’s giant ego. A real CB would turn practice into one long seminar on how to field desperation hail marys and wobbly checkdowns.

steeler fans commenting on another teams’ receivers? thats funny

scoobs, I understand your point – our wideouts aren’t exactly D-killers. But they are markedly better than the Ravens wideouts. No denying that.

at this point i would tend to agree. i like torrey a lot. will be interesting to see how he does this year. i think dickson will surprise people…he has talent. i dont think for a second jacoby will be a starter. so either someone in the doss, street, thompson group will take over or we will look for a free agent and jb will wet himself in excitement

“we will look for a free agent and jb will wet himself in excitement”

If this happens, please give me a heads up so I can wear my poncho…please?

The only real take away from this thread is more proof:

    Joemontanaflacco

    1) can’t get enough Steelers
    2) and has no life.
