For all the moves they made this offseason, the Titans know their season hinges on the growth of quarterback Jake Locker.

So in an effort to give him the best chance, they’re trying to tailor some things to his skills.

According to Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com, the Titans were running plays from the pistol formation last night.

Given Locker’s mobility, setting him up in the half-shotgun formation should give him a little more room to move, and help create space for him.

“It doesn’t quite tip off what runs you can do when the back is offset,” Titans coach Mike Munchak said. “The offense has more options for what they can do.”

He has the ability to run, and if they can get him comfortable, it could be a good fit with their personnel.
