Collie to work out for 49ers again

Austin Collie AP

The 49ers said earlier that they were still interested in wide receiver Austin Collie, but wanted to see some of their younger receivers first.

They’ve apparently seen enough to have an idea, as they’re bringing Collie back for another workout.

According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, Collie will have a second workout today, and will be joined by former Cowboys and Jaguars receiver Laurent Robinson.

The two were just in Miami working out for the Dolphins. They’ve probably gotten to know each other well enough to split a cab.

And with all the injuries the 49ers have accumulated at the position, there might be room for both of them.

The 49ers are a train wreck of a franchise. They’re so weak and confused they can’t even dream of catching the Redskins.

If the 49ers need to add talent, they should just wait and pick up the players that the Seahawks cut.

It’s kind of disappointing to hear that Davis and Boldin are the only two certainties at this point and that Manningham and Williams are question marks, while Jenkins is collecting checks he hasn’t earned and Patton probably won’t learn the system fast enough to make a significant impact early in the season.

Let’s hope either Collie or Robinson make enough of an impression to warrant at least a one year signing.

But it is what it is……

Sign them both! Just need some healthy bodies for camp and the preseason games.

Worst case scenario is they play well enough to force management’s hand in making a tough decision before the season.

“Logicalvoice” comments on more 9er articles than I do! Lol.

great team, but I don’t understand PFT picking the 49ers over the ‘Hawks with the Niners current receiver situation

Told you all that the 49ers brass can’t develop or evaluate WRs. Collie and Robinson are 3rd receivers at best.

Why dont they just bring Moss back? He may not be the dangerous Moss in his prime but He’s better than that camp fodder they’re trying out, knows the system and caught crucial 20+ yard passes to give that offense life in the playoffs when they were getting buried on the scoreboard due to Kaepernick’s slow interception-prone Brett Favre like starts.

Reggie Mckenzie got a WR in the 6th round of last years draft and UDFA WR that’s better than any WR on the 49ers roster besides Boldin. Streater and Criner would easily be the 2nd and 3rd best WRs on the 49ers. 49ers stay drafting and signing WR busts. While my squad can draft a solid WR with their eyes closed.

    @509seahawks….. YES! Lol.

@raiderlyfe…… how’s the winning “tradition” coming along on the wrong side of the bay? Enjoy all 15 minutes of the Matt Flynn era bro.

I hope Collie shows well and they sign him. All he does is get open. I dont remember if Robinson can get down the field quick enough to be a deep threat. thats what they NEED.

“can’t even dream of catching the Redskins.”

The Niners would have to take several steps backwards to do that. Thanks and good day.

The 49ers goal this year is to win the superbowl..
The shehawks goal is to beat the Niners…
Thats the difference between a championship franchise and a losing franchise…
Seattle city of mediocrity …Sehawks and Mariners….bwahahahah

Actually you’re wrong. Jenkins was a known risk in the 1st round but displayed in college what was believed to be a complete set of tools. Jenkins’ issue is that he doesn’t possess an NFL mindset. He is feeble minded and it shows on the field. He was a complete miss and I would not be the least bit surprised if he gets cut by the end of the pre-season.

Patton the jury is still out on because he injured his hand. Lockette isn’t doing anything that’s all that spectacular which is expected of an UDFA.

With Williams standing by with a groin tweak and Manningham still recovering, Crabtree rehabbing people be making it out like the 9ers are just doing nothing with receivers. Not at all. They’re just hurt….a lot of them.

    @waxthat

Wait…who did the Seahawks sign from the ‘Niners’ dump-offs?

  19. bostoncollie says: Aug 1, 2013 3:52 PM

I believe it would be a smart move for any team to sign Collie. Comeback player of the year.

  20. dirtysouthniner says: Aug 1, 2013 4:28 PM

The seahawks signed a long snapper we cut, I believe

  21. freerayray52 says: Aug 1, 2013 4:43 PM

Any interest in collie from the ravens?

    Two things:

1- You must be pretty bitter your beloved Raiders tried and failed to trade up and grab Kaepernick in 2011 draft.

2- How’s DHB working out for ya? You know, the hands of stone WR the Raiders drafted ahead of Crabtree lol.

Whatever arguments you might have against my post, there’s no denying that the Raider’s front office wanted to draft Kaep badly and even though Crabs is injured this year, you can compare stats between him and DHB to see who has been more productive since being drafted.

    ????????????????????????????????????
Okay so this is not new in the NFL by any means at all. Both teams have done it. All teams do it. They are adding players from rivals to try and learn as much knowledge about the systems in place as possible. So stop being an ignorant fan.
So since MACDADDYSPEED is so blind to realize how many players and or staff from the NINERS have been lured by the Seahawks, I made him a list

This is a list of players cut by the Niners or traded that the Seahawks have signed…in recent years.

    Longsnapper dude-no one cares about….2013
WR Bret Swain signed 2 yr deal Seahawks April 2013
WR Braylon Edward signed with Seahawks July 2012
49ers ex general manager Scot McCloughan now with Seahawks scouting department 2010
RB/FB Michael Robinson signs witth Seahawks 2010
WR Brandon Jones signed with Seahawks 2010
Dl Kentwan Balmer traded to Seahawks Aug. 2010
LB Jeff Ulbrich retires ’09, Seahwks sign as special teams assistant 2010
LB Julian Peterson signed with Seahawks 2006
RB Ricky Waters signed with Seahawks 1998
DB Merton Hanks signed with Seahwks September 99′

I’m not even counting OWENS,BRYANT AND RICE cause they didn’t sign immediately after being let go or traded by the Niners.
