DeMarcus Love suspended four games by NFL

AP

The Vikings have been lucky (so far) with injuries during camp.  They’re not as lucky when it comes to league-imposed suspensions.

The league has announced that tackle DeMarcus Love will miss the first four games of the year for violating the policy regarding performance-enhancing drugs.

Love will be eligible for practice and games through the end of the preseason.  He’ll return to the team on Monday, September 30, after the Vikings play the Steelers in London.

A sixth-round pick in 2011, Love has yet to appear in a regular-season game.

  1. So I guess Christian Ponder so come out tweet about how Love told him he didn’t use anything and that the NFL was at fault for the failed test…

I mean that’s SOP for the team to the East…

then I guess Ponder could snipe at somebody because he called said he was shorter than he thought

  2. Aaron Rogers said there is no way this could be true about Love and bet next years salary on it! Love was never going to see the field anyways, too much all around depth on that team.

  3. Some NFL players take steroids it happens and it has been happening for a long time, Lyle Alzado didn’t die from eating too many leafy greens. If you are lucky, only 4 or 5 guys on your favorite team are on PEDs, so every time a player that’s not on “your” team gets busted don’t be too quick to talk about how how that team is full of trash, while “your” team is full of class acts who always do the right thing.

  4. Wait a second…..this guy is getting paid $ 2.14 Million and has never, ever played in a regular season game????

Where do I apply for a job???

Just cut him, this is not how the Vikings roll..we win fairly that’s why we’re such a great organization

    Starcaps anyone?

  6. Sorry DeMarcus, don’t let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out.

Moron…. don’t go to friggin GNC and buy whatever looks good on the shelf. If its not a league approved supplement DON’T TAKE IT!

  7. After reading some of the ill-informed comments here, my IQ dropped a couple points. You guys need a new hobby or at least some new material.

  8. The hypocrisy from Pack fans is always hilarious. Jolly takes ILLEGAL substances and all is forgiven when the Pack org gives him another shot. A Viking (who has no shot of making the team now and never played a down for them anyway) buys a legal, over the counter supplement from GNC and suddenly the whole team is full of miscreants.

This feels like the offseason that never ends. Wish it’d be over completely so the smack talk is taken where it belongs, over what happens on the field.

  9. all the talk about Peterson using PEDS is the dumbest talk possible…he has been tested for everything and passed and welcomes any other testing they want to bring in… get a clue and stop being jealous that your team has no talent like this… it’s pathetic

  10. and the starcaps thing is old news none of those players are even here anymore except KWill and he is now clean and gone after this season anyways…. this guy will not be on the teams roster so this story is over

This hapless and tasteless moment has been brought to you by the MN Vikings.

Hapless and tasteless are adjectives better served in describing life in Green Bay, most notably: night life, food, fitness, looks, education, culture, and etc. High marks for obesity, lack of self-awareness/shame, and treating athletes as if they are demigods.

  12. It was a calculated gamble by a player desperate to stick around the NFL.

A 6th round draft pick who has never had a realistic chance to be a starter in the league and knows his only chance is to stand out in practice to keep his 2nd string status and the big payday that comes with it.

He had already lost his practice snaps to Kevin Murphy and Tyler Holmes so no effect on the team other than knowing that desperate players will do desperate things to stay in the league.

There is a LOT more money to be a backup LT then there is in ANY other job he would be able to find if he didn’t make the team (and that’s even if he would have been a perfect student at Arkansas and graduated at the top of his class…..he could have graduated top of his class at an ivy league school and still not be making the kind of money he was making as a 2nd stringer so in a way it’s understandable why he tries to cheat…a new wave of young players enter the league and unless he stands out, he will be gone.)

I don’t agree with cheating. I oppose it very much. Would love extreme testing to keep the playing field more level.

However….I do understand why people cheat. And I am pretty sure that any person reading this whoever cheated in anyway during high school, fudged any expense report on their job or didn’t tell a waitress at a restaurant she forgot to charge them as much as she should have or even broke the law by speeding….would end up making the same decision as Love and so many other players do if they were in the same situation. In each situation we would be willing to pay the fine if/when we were caught and each time the person doing the wrong action doesn’t really think it’s that big of a deal.

Again, don’t agree….want more testing…..and I’m perfectly fine with a player getting caught and banned from the game. But just not ready to say he was that stupid. His stupidity probably earned him a few extra million dollars before being caught. A better system is needed so that the guy who does play by the rules isn’t the guy sitting at home working for $10/hour while the cheater gets his millions to be a backup. But, until that system comes along there are going to be cheaters and most of us would probably do the same if we were in the same situation.

  13. I feel certain Peterson was, and is, clean. He’s built like a rock. He’s just an exceptional athlete. Also, we are going to start seeing players come back quicker from ACL’s, the treatment is just way better than it used to be. It’s discouraging to see the ridiculous comments from the Packer fans. Come on Packer fans, enjoy your team and stop throwing rocks. Show a little class.

How soon until the ax falls on peterson?

Right after it falls on Matthews.

  15. He’s a backup who knew he wouldn’t be able to unseat anyone on the Vikes starting OL without “help”. Although I don’t agree with it, I’m not surprised a player in his situation would use PEDs. That being said, there’s no place on this team for cheaters. Cut him from the team, or trade him to Seattle. They seem not to care much about those there, and I’m sure they would love to be hustled by the Vikes again. 2014 2nd round pick sounds about right.

Another magical pick by Rick spielman …

Oh yeah, I forgot… ALL of the Packers 6th round picks have gone on to become superstars. Man, what the hell were we thinking!

  17. About time a Vikings player gets disciplined when they do something wrong. Roger Goodell was letting that whole team get away with murder last year.

He must have got them from PEDerson!

Doug Pederson is the offensive coordinator of the KC Chiefs. I highly doubt he had anything to with this situation at all.

I’ll give you a pass on this comment, since you clearly don’t pay attention too or are a fan of the NFL. It’s the Patriots that were getting away with murder. Btw, it’s pack13 vikes 1, just to be clear. Or were you not referring to NFL Titles? If you’re referring to the Super Bowl era, then the Vikings have finished ahead of the Packers in the standings more times than the pack has finished ahead of the Vikes. Don’t even get me started on division titles, because the pack are a very distant second to the Vikings in winning division titles….Fact.

Where did you get that information? Sixth-round picks don’t make that kind of money.

Ok, maybe I shouldn’t have used the word Murder but they sure do seem to get away with assaults. Chris Cook commits domestic assault & gets away with it, Adrian Peterson assaults a cop & resists arrest but gets away with it thanks to commiting perjury in the court of law & Harrison Smith got away with assaulting an official during a game last season. All 3 are FACTS. You can have the Division titles since you have ZERO NFL Titles, not 1. Sorry but everybody recognizes the Chiefs as NFL Champions that year. FACT.

  23. Rumor has it that DeMarcus will be chartering Viking fan boat tours on the pristine waters of Lake Minnetonka during his suspension.

In a stroke of marketing genius, he decided to use his last name so the Love boat tours will commence in September, its BOH (bring your own hookers) and the All you can eat portion of the cruise is brought to my Byrant McKinnie.

Make sure you tip your waitresses, I’ll be here through next Thursday.
