Greg Toler out with concussion

The Colts quietly pieced together a solid class of free agents, aimed at complementing a strong, young nucleus of talented players.

One of the new arrivals will be missing some time, at least for now.

Former Cardinals cornerback Greg Toler, an underrated defender and hard-nosed tackler, missed practice Thursday with a concussion sustained late in Wednesday’s.

“It’s not real serious,” coach Chuck Pagano told reporters on Thursday.  “Again, it is one of those deals where you have to go through the protocol so I think he was tested today and they will do some treadmill running and things like that.  They will go through the proper protocol, test him again tomorrow and then we just wait until they release him just like when it happens during the season, you still got to go through the normal protocol.”

The normal protocol includes ultimately being cleared by an independent neurologist.

I love the spin on concussions not being “not serious”. It’s a concussion. You are light headed, see stars, hear things that are not there, you feel like you have no balance, and it can upset your system in general. How can that be “not serious”?

A solid class of free agents plus Erik Walden. And dang. This is not good. Don’t want to see anyone getting banged up like that. Don’t be stupid, young man.
