Patrick Willis injures right hand

The injury bug has been ping-ponging back and forth between San Francisco and Seattle.

A day after the Seahawks learned that receiver Percy Harvin will have hip surgery, 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis exited practice with a right hand injury.

According to Matt Maiocco of, Willis apparently injured the hand during a blitz pickup drill, colliding with fullback Bruce Miller.  Willis, per Maiocco, then spent most of the practice with a large wrap on his right hand.

Willis remained on the field for the rest of the practice session, declining to sign autographs after practice by pointing to his hand.

The guy could wear a dress and still look like a monster. I’d kill for him on my team.

This early into the training camp aspect of the season…. If I was on the coaching staff I would take Patrick Willis and ask him to call it a day with something simple like a hand injury.

Let’s see who is behind him, and what they have to offer. Everyone knows Willis and Bowman are bad ass, lets get the back ups some reps…..

It’s not like they are the Raiders and trying to fit the starters together and get them reps….

    Hopefully he needs surgery

Somebody should’ve chosen “Strength training with Patrick Willis” with their VISA card.

Gonna be the first one to say that this seahawks 49ers fans trash talking eachother about players’ injuries is getting old. We’ll find out who’s the better team this season!! Hope harvin and Willis both heal up quick.

    From a seahawks fan.

Does anyone else find it a little unfair that the Niners have both the best and second best middle linebackers in the NFL? Share the love people!

  11. theuglitruth says: Aug 1, 2013 12:32 AM

Well, if he can’t pick up a sharpie…it must be pretty bad.

  12. tdubdizzle says: Aug 1, 2013 12:33 AM

Noooooo not P Willy! I’m a Raiders fan but I can’t help but love this mans style of play! All love from across the bay. Go Raiders, Go Niners!

  13. aaroncurryisbust says: Aug 1, 2013 12:33 AM

Karma for the legions of Niners fans gleefully cheering the Percy Harvin injury.

Hey Shehawk fans..We are running out of room in Candlestick for all our banners and retired numbers..Can we start to hang some in your building? I mean all you guys have is that #12 so theres plenty of room…Thanks guys.

  15. sonofsamadams says: Aug 1, 2013 12:47 AM

Harvin…*snicker, snicker*…BREAK! The fans of these two teams are keeping karma busy.

  16. sunnyd89 says: Aug 1, 2013 12:49 AM

Didn’t he have one of his best seasons with a club on a hand?

  17. alstottwastheman says: Aug 1, 2013 12:53 AM

Update: Immediatley after the autograph session, Willis claimed his hand was feeling “much better” and he would be a full participant in tomorrow’s practice.

  18. dennisatunity says: Aug 1, 2013 12:53 AM

As a Seahawks fan, we don’t wish an injury to anybody. I hope he recovers 100% and soon.

  21. kolbydoerge says: Aug 1, 2013 12:58 AM

    Go Hawks!

  22. mrwalterisgod says: Aug 1, 2013 1:04 AM

Lol. Niner fans are gonna flip. When Justin Smith got banged up and the rest of their D played like poo it was excuses this, excuses that.

Don’t worry, Niner fans. Pete Carroll will show you how to hoist a Lombardi without having to be a whiny excuse maker ala Harbaugh.

  23. oreo51 says: Aug 1, 2013 1:14 AM

    Broken wrist for sure.

  24. rukkus1 says: Aug 1, 2013 1:19 AM

Damn these injuries seem to get worse and worse every year its only training camp and my hawks are off to a bad start, our rivals are off to a bad start… at least we are still the best division in football

  25. ilovefoolsball says: Aug 1, 2013 1:19 AM

It won’t be so easy for San Fran to return to the big game this year.

When was the last time that a Super Bowl loser returned to the championship game the following year without the aid of spygate?

  26. cpo187 says: Aug 1, 2013 1:28 AM

What’s the score on injuries to this point in the S.F. vs Sea match?

  27. braceyourselffor12 says: Aug 1, 2013 1:35 AM

According to Eric Branch of the SF Chronicle it’s minor.

Having Willis as the Defensive captain set’s the tone for having one of the elite units in the NFL. Even for those of you who despise the Niners his life story is a prime example of a rags to riches story (go online and check it out) and should motivate anyone to never shy away from adversity but instead see challenges as an opportunity to better yourself.

    GO NINERS!!!!!

  28. aaroncurryisbust says: Aug 1, 2013 1:45 AM

    Karma! ^_^

  29. norcalmafia says: Aug 1, 2013 1:46 AM

Hey Shehawk fans..were runn8ng out of room in Candlesrick for championship banners and retired jerseys..Can we hang some up in your stadium? I mean all you guys have is that lame #12 jersey so we figure you have plenty of room..Thanks girls..

Get back by week 2. I don’t want whiner fans to have any excuses for 42-13 part 2.

  35. pencilmonkeymagic says: Aug 1, 2013 3:06 AM

Ok, this is getting ridiculous now. Can everyone please stop getting injured?

We haven’t even reached pre-season yet!

  36. allidoiswin55 says: Aug 1, 2013 3:25 AM

Heal up fast pimp, your the best in the game. Mini Willis in Seattle, Bobby Wagner will hopefully get to your level soon.

    Go Hawks.

  37. sourdoughsam says: Aug 1, 2013 3:31 AM

Willis played with a club on his hand both in college and the NFL. I remember Chad Johnson referring to him as “Bam Bam” back during his rookie year because of it. I don’t think too many people are concerned about this one.

  38. channer81 says: Aug 1, 2013 4:24 AM

Really? His hand is wrapped up and your still gonna ask for an autograph??? No words..

  39. nativeraider says: Aug 1, 2013 4:26 AM

The Seahawks and 9ers are taking this rivalry a lil too far. First their taking each others players now they’re trying to top each others injuries?!

  40. olhoss1884 says: Aug 1, 2013 4:47 AM

Apparently Bruce Miller signed up for the car service, too.

  41. lionsdraftguy says: Aug 1, 2013 5:06 AM

Yes!! Hope Anthony Davis is next.

  43. deathonwings410 says: Aug 1, 2013 6:13 AM

That’s why all these Preseason power rankings are worthless because training camp is brutal and unforgiving.

  44. frankyvito says: Aug 1, 2013 6:39 AM

That’d be a bigger loss than either Crabtree or Harvin. Maybe combined…

  47. touchdownroddywhite says: Aug 1, 2013 8:15 AM

P-Willy is a monster. He doesn’t need hands!

  48. mattmchoes says: Aug 1, 2013 8:24 AM

Patrick Willis has played with broken bones in his hand 3 times, twice in the pros and once in college……Not Worried

  49. kane337 says: Aug 1, 2013 8:25 AM

    There goes the season.

  50. typerico says: Aug 1, 2013 8:54 AM

Will all these injuries from the Niners and the Hawks, the Rams and the Cards may actually have a chance in that division now.

  51. papoose059 says: Aug 1, 2013 11:18 AM

Shoulda signed them autographs with his left hand, would looked like trash but probably a fan favorite.

  52. ColtsWinColtsWin!! says: Aug 1, 2013 12:16 PM

I notice that people in Seattle and San Francisco injure their hands a lot……;)

  53. rukkus1 says: Aug 1, 2013 1:49 PM
