The hits just keep coming on the injury front for the two favorites in the NFC West this season.

On the same day Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin underwent surgery to repair an injured hip, the San Francisco 49ers have apparently lost a defensive back for the season.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver suffered a torn ACL in practice on Thursday and will miss the entire season.

Culliver was described as being “in tears” on the practice field after suffering the injury on a punt drill Thursday afternoon.

The 49ers will be without receiver Michael Crabtree for significant time still after suffering a torn Achilles over the offseason and linebacker Patrick Willis is dealing with a broken hand as well.

Culliver appeared in all 16 for the 49ers in 2012 while recording 47 tackles with 14 passes defensed and two interceptions.
