Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing saw his 2012 season come to a premature end when he suffered a torn ACL in a Week 5 game against the New York Jets.

Cushing is still working his way back to full strength but he was able to take another positive step forward in his rehab process on Thursday.

According to Dale Robertson of the Houston Chronicle, Cushing was able to work through 7-on-7 passing drills with the Texans during Thursday’s practice. While he still isn’t being thrown into full team workouts, Cushing is getting closer to being ready.

“It felt great,” Cushing said. “I’ve been telling guys this feels right. I’m playing football, making plays. It was a long offseason, but there’s really been no residual (problems) or anything holding me back. It’s been pretty much 100 percent and full-go.”

Cushing racked up 114 tackles and four sacks with two interceptions and two forced fumbles for the Texans in his last full season in 2011.
