The Bills came into training camp set with Stevie Johnson as one of their starting receivers and little other certainty in the receiving corps, so he’s not a player they want to see dealing with an injury.

That’s where they find themselves as of Friday morning, however. Chris Brown of the Bills website reports that Johnson pulled up in the middle of a route during practice and grabbed the back of his left leg. He left the field with the team’s training staff and coach Doug Marrone confirmed that Johnson has a a hamstring injury and will undergo further evaluation.

“We’ll see what the doctors say,” Marrone said when asked about his level of concern, via the team.

Johnson hasn’t missed a game in the last three seasons despite a variety of aches and pains that have landed him on the injury report. He also dealt with a back injury this spring, but had been healthy in camp until leaving practice on Friday.

There’s a little more than a week until the Bills open up their preseason schedule against the Colts and any absence for Johnson at practice in the next few days could put his availability for even a cameo appearance in that game at risk.
