Bruce Arians: Ryan Williams could be back next week

Cardinals running back Ryan Williams could be ready to return next week from a right knee injury, head coach Bruce Arians said Saturday, according to multiple media outlets.

According to Darren Urban of AzCardinals.com, Arians indicated he hopes Williams will be back before the preseason opener at Green Bay on Friday.

As a rookie, Williams suffered a serious injury to his right knee in the 2011 preseason and didn’t play a regular-season down. He missed most of the 2012 regular season after a shoulder injury. After participating in the early stages of training camp, his right knee has again been an issue.

The sooner Williams can return, the better, considering Arians has indicated it’s an important season for the third-year back from Virginia Tech.

The Cardinals’ starting running back, Rashard Mendenhall, is dealing with knee tendinitis, but Arians believes he will be back Monday, per Urban.

Arians was and is a walking joke. Steelers never make a mistake.

If my memory serves me correctly, Green Bay is the team they were playing in 2011 when he shredded his knee.

Williams is a REAL back. He is great and grateful for everything he has earned. He was on his way to greatness last year and was devastated emotionally by the fluke injury. Life has not been fair to Ryan and we are all hoping he gets some holes to run through.
