Desmond Bishop will miss Saturday night scrimmage

Bishop AP

Linebacker Desmond Bishop has recovered from a torn hamstring that sidelined him for all of the 2012 season.  But Bishop now has a new injury, reportedly to his groin.

I’ll be fine,” Bishop said after suffering the injury on Friday, via Brian Murphy of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Defensive coordinator Alan Williams said Saturday that Bishop will be held out of a Saturday night scrimmage, but Williams declined to delve into details.

Also missing the scrimmage will be first-round cornerback Xavier Rhodes, who has a hamstring injury, and safety Mistral Raymond.

Bishop signed with the Vikings after being cut by the Packers in June.  He’s been competing for the weakside linebacker job with Marvin Mitchell.

It must be tough on these guys knowing that no matter how well they play this season, they’re screwed because of Ponder.

All minor injuries, no big deal at this point. Hopefully there’s no more devastation injuries around the league for a while.

I would tell the Viking fans to get used to it but I don’t want to shatter their Superbowl dreams.

Signing over the hill, ex Packers is not a viable team building strategy but jealousy can do that to a GM.

He’s been competing for the job against Marvin Mitchell. All you need to know.

The Bishop will be just fine.
The packers however will not be.

Didn’t know Rhodes was injured. Hamstring is never a good sign. Those linger for months if you don’t let it rest.

Filthy – I usually just shrug my shoulders or shake my head at the idiocy you post, but unfortunately I have to agree with you on this. Too bad you just lost your blind side tackle for the season.

Back up? He was and would have been the Packs starting MLB last year if he didn’t tear his hamstring. Hes only a back up right now cause hes learning a new system.

His face in that picture says, “Man, I wish I still played for a real team.”
