Richardson may skip preseason opener

Richardson

Browns running back Trent Richardson has said he plans to play in all four preseason games this year.

He’s about to be zero for one.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the signs are pointing to Richardson resting a shin injury that caused him to recently miss some practice time. He returned Monday on a limited basis.

Running back Montario Hardesty also is expected to miss the preseason opener on Thursday night against the Rams, due to a hamstring injury.

Injuries caused Richardson to miss all four preseason games in 2012. He vowed to play in all four of them this year. The Browns will settle for Richardson playing effectively in all 16 regular-season games.
