Atlanta Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon left the team’s joint practice with the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday after suffering an apparent injury to his hand.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, Weatherspoon badly dislocated a finger but didn’t suffer any broken bones.

Any time Weatherspoon may miss because of the injury aren’t yet clear. For a linebacker, a dislocated finger isn’t nearly the hindrance the same injury would be for a wide receiver. Weatherspoon could likely play through the injury for the Falcons’ preseason opener against the Bengals on Thursday night. However, with real games still being a month away, there seems to be no reason for the Falcons to rush him back onto the field.

Weatherspoon started 13 games for the Falcons last season and recorded 95 tackles with three sacks, an interception and a forced fumble.
