Reports: Cowboys showing interest in guard Brandon Moore

Brandon Moore AP

The Cowboys and free-agent guard Brandon Moore are “in talks,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday night.

Moore is contemplating his next step, Rapoport said.

According to Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas, owner Jerry Jones hinted Tuesday that the club could be looking at veteran guard help. Archer also reported that the Cowboys and Moore have communicated and that a “deal could go down quickly.”

Fox Sports’ Mike Garofolo also reported the Cowboys and Moore had communicated.

Moore, 33, was the Jets’ long-time starting right guard, and Dallas has some instability at that position. He is just one of two unsigned non-retired players left on PFT’s Free Agent Hot 100, with Richard Seymour the other.

Moore, a defensive lineman in college at Illinois, made 142 regular-season starts along the offensive line for the Jets.

With all the camp injuries to the o-line, a little depth not a bad idea.

OK let’s see cowgirls or retirement choices choices. Hmmmm if I was him I would pick the safe bet retirement. Who needs to go to another circus atmosphere.

If this goes down I will actually give Jerry Jones some props. I’ve thought the Cowboys should’ve made this move since the second tier of free agency. That line is missing a guy like Moore. With them they are below avg with him they are above.

This wouldn’t be more depth, Moore can run block with the best of them and while he isn’t an ace in pass protection he’s an immediate upgrade over anything the cowboys have.

With Frederick at C and Moore at G the cowboys o.line will actually be decent overall and good at run blocking for the first time since the jimmy johnson era. I would be ecstatic if they managed to get Moore for a decent contract.

At least they can leave the Center alone. This will help Dallas out a lot signing a Veteran Guard.

Brandon Moore is lazy. What makes your coach believe he will protect Romo. Branedon Moore was the one who cause Sanchez to get sacked too many times in 2012. I am glad he’s gone.

Good luck with your team. Romo is a great QB

    Go Jets
