Sanchez appreciates Cromartie telling fans not to boo

Sanchez AP

Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie spoke out against fans who booed quarterback Mark Sanchez at training camp. Sanchez appreciates that support.

Asked by Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News why fans would boo their quarterback while he’s practicing and trying to get better, Sanchez said, “Hey, you’re preaching to the choir.”

Sanchez added that he was glad to have Cromartie on his side.

“You heard what Cromartie said. Cromartie was pissed. Cromartie’s like, ‘What are you talking about? You’re going to come here and boo? For what? Then don’t come.’ A lot of guys feel like that,” Sanchez said.

Unfortunately for Sanchez, Cromartie and all the other guys who feel like that, the reality is that fans get to boo whoever they want. And at the moment, Jets fans want to boo Sanchez.

Sanchez, you didn’t hear the full chant. All the fans were saying was BOOOO…………TY. In reference to that fun video you made. So you see they are your admirers, not haters.

Looks like he is saying……Haaaayyyyy, with a tilt of his head.

Fans should be booing Cromartie also. What a dad!!

Sanchez also appreciates the millions of dollars the Jets are paying him to run into his own players.

I would have appreciated Cromartie telling Sanchez not to give them a reason to boo.

Can’t attack problems at their source though, right?

  7. standintexas says: Aug 6, 2013 8:41 AM

It’s training camp isn’t it? The fans are just in training for the season as well.

I wouldn’t have booed anyone at a scrimmage in August, but Mark has to understand that he’s been stealing money here for years. And many of the fans have paid a fortune to watch him do it. PSLs between $10,000-$30,000 per seat. Fifty bucks to park. Individual tickets well over $100.

And a lot of that money has fallen into Mark Sanchez’s undeserving pockets. So you can’t have it both ways. You can’t get rich off of these people’s loyalty and then smear them when they boo—especially when you continue to play so poorly.

You’re a five year vet with four playoff wins and two AFC championship game appearances and yet somehow you’re in a qb battle with a rookie who’s about as mature as Kanye at an award show?

You’re right you don’t deserve to be booed you deserve to be fired.

  17. chrisbermanpleasegoaway says: Aug 6, 2013 8:56 AM

If it was just Cromartie’s children there booing it would be deafening.

  23. hehateme2 says: Aug 6, 2013 9:16 AM

He’s perfect for the nj jets. All talk… little to no action.

A misjudged franchise QB for a misjudged NFL franchise.

  24. sillec28 says: Aug 6, 2013 9:17 AM

Yo, Mark – maybe the boos from Jets fans have something to do with the 36 interceptions you’ve thrown in the last two seasons. But not to worry – when the season starts you’ll hear plenty of cheers if you’re the QB. Of course they’ll be from fans of the opposing team.

  25. bach2112 says: Aug 6, 2013 9:22 AM

He needs to thank god hes not the Eggles QB. He would be in constant danger.

  26. bach2112 says: Aug 6, 2013 9:24 AM

Still waiting for him to do the Z finger snap.

  27. pisano says: Aug 6, 2013 9:36 AM

This guy has a lot of balls, probably one of the worst, if not the worst QB’s in the NFL, couple that with what people pay to go to games, and his play is lower level college caliber , and he expects people not to boo? as I’ve said in other posts about him, he delusional. Next year he’ll be some other teams problem, thank God.

  28. huntsville2012 says: Aug 6, 2013 9:42 AM

“Don’t boo Mark. You will hurt his feelings!”

Mr. Butt Fumble wears a head band like he is some sort of girl. Whats next, nail polish?

  29. ken2016 says: Aug 6, 2013 9:48 AM

I cant believe they asked the fans not to Boo! They will stop Booing when they stop being laughed out of every football conversation and sports bar across america! The definition of insanity is doing the same failing things without change!

  30. jimthebuilder27 says: Aug 6, 2013 9:49 AM

The fans have every right to boo. They support the team, pay money for merchandise and seats and parking, and get a dysfunctional franchise with a QB who gets 8 mil to play horrible and whine that he’s getting booed. Hey Mark, those fans also pay your salary!

So glad I’m not a Jets fan. I wouldn’t take Sanchez as my sixth-string QB!

  31. ken2016 says: Aug 6, 2013 9:52 AM

  33. 1rockyracoon says: Aug 6, 2013 9:56 AM

Cromartie could bring ALL of his kids to practice and have them cheer for Sanchez. That would definitely cancel out the Jets fans who are booing.

anyone with a headband like that should get such a treatment

a QB shouldn’t be listening to this stuff

-cromartie often sums up why the jets are so awful. why the heck is this specific DB constantly getting involved in things? he makes them into an issue, I had NO CLUE sanchez was facing such a rough time at jets practice. I assumed such, but I didn’t think much about it. but here we are, with cromartie again drawing attention to something by speaking on it when he has nothing to do with it.

they need to add a “silence” clause to his contract.

  36. bucsfan5000 says: Aug 6, 2013 10:14 AM

Sanchez threw Tebow a going away party and it got intercepted.

  37. lovefootball4life says: Aug 6, 2013 10:15 AM

As I heard on the NFL Network – paraphrased Sanchez and Smith are playing about the same level in camp. The problem is one is a rookie and the other is a 5th year guy. That’s why they are booing.

  38. baily67 says: Aug 6, 2013 10:20 AM

can Sanchez please lose that stupid headband, it’s awful. Sanchez stinks, sorry, but he does. He’s no more than a backup. I think he’s had plenty of chances.

Holy crap, even for an NFL team that’s a lot of money for a fan to lay out. I should send Mark my contact info and if he pays me 30 k/game I’ll be his booing stand in.

  43. nananatman says: Aug 6, 2013 10:45 AM

It’s gotta be hard being Sanchez with his mom being a Jets fan, booing him when he gets out of bed, booing him when he gets his cereal, booing him in the shower, booing him when he tries to cram the ball up an OL’s butt. You don’t want to know what she says when he drops a deuce “at least it didn’t go for six.”

  44. thestrategyexpert says: Aug 6, 2013 11:19 AM

How about Sanchez and Cromartie stop cashing million dollar checks until after they get the job done, and then they have a right to ask to not be booed. Until then BOOOOOOOOOO! You guys are losers, your team is a loser, your coach is a loser, and it should be boos until you give the fans a reason to cheer.

You guys have not done your job yet and accomplished anything worthy of the cheers, yet you sickly overpay a lot of people in the process which is further insulting to your own town and community as well as everybody that just appreciates professionalism and competition in this sport. So the boos, that’s your problem and YOUR FAULTS! These losers should keep their mouths shut and go wipe away the tears with hundred dollar bills, so BOOOOOOOOO to both of them and the rest of the Jets they represent. What a bunch of sad clowns. Interesting brand of football the Jets have decided to create for themselves. I would have went with a winning and glory theme myself, but these guys are the real pros, they surely know what’s best for them so I cheer on their conviction at least!

Good luck this year Geno. Ok let’s find some stories about competitive football teams now.

    hmmm Joe Namath: 173 td’s and 220 ints. 65.5 qb rating… 2-1 in playoffs

joe flacco: 102 tds, 56 ints 86.3 rating. won at least one playoff game in each of his first five years, including a super bowl…

Joe Namath, the epitome of a guy being considered great because of one game.
