Finley throws haymakers in Packers fight

Green Bay Packers v Chicago Bears Getty Images

As we mentioned yesterday when the Panthers had their own “small melee,” the  second-week-of-training-camp practice fight is one of the traditions of early August.

The Packers had their version today, with video evidence to prove it.

As shown by Fox 11 in Wisconsin, there were several scuffles, with tight end Jermichael Finley throwing wild punches at helmeted teammate Jarvis Reed.

At the rate Packers receivers are falling by the wayside, Finley should probably concentrate on keeping his hands on the passes that are coming his way.

    If this was the niners everyone would jump on Harbaugh so let the shots at McCarthy commence!

    At Vikings training camp, there’s no fights at all.. We actually have a stable locker-room with no more troubled players (after we traded Percy Harvin away). The Minnesota Vikings organization is just run with so much more class.

    He can’t catch anyways so having broken hands wouldn’t change anything.

  8. Iknoweverything says: Aug 7, 2013 2:25 PM

    Throwing punches at a helmeted player just reinforces the fact that those up there in Wasteland can never be accused of possessing intelligence.

    Having dairy cattle as “companionship”
    Spending 24/7 trolling for a lame Viking quote
    Paying hundreds of dollars for worthless paper
    Believing said worthless paper gives them a voice or ownership
    Punching at a person that has a very hard protective shield

    All above examples of why everyone considers PackLand the simpletons of the country

    Finley keep his hands on passes? That’d be a first.

    Never understood the whole punching someone with their helmet on… easiest (and most stupid) way to break a hand

    good…. “Making it look mean!!”

  12. chalkruz1989 says: Aug 7, 2013 2:32 PM

    This is exactly what you want to see if your coach Mike McCarthy. Your starting tight end, and major focal point of the offense throwing punches at a helmet, leaving himself susceptible to breaking a finger or even his hand.

    Jermichael Finley needs to use his head, now swing at others.

  13. bgrillz says: Aug 7, 2013 2:32 PM

    Yeah, you’re right unbiasfan, you just have Greg Jennings….

  20. ranger764 says: Aug 7, 2013 2:45 PM

    I watched the video. Big deal. Exact same thing was going on at Broncos camp last Thursday when I was there. Probably in 30 other camps across the country too.

  21. @HowdyDoobie says: Aug 7, 2013 2:48 PM

    Throwing haymakers is the boxing equivalent of alligator arms. Thinking Finley didn’t connect on any of those punches just like he doesn’t catch the important balls thrown his way.

    Took me 2 minutes to find a Viking troll and again it’s useless lame 2nd grade comments.
    Yes, the stock that many Packer fans buy, is just paper, but the Jersey’s you Viking fans wear is just nylon and just as worthless, since you have no SB’s to honor them.
    If the Vikings offered a stock sale to help build a stadium to keep them in Minnesota, I’m sure there would be a few hundred thousand fans in line….. Again, didn’t take long for a Viking fan to be put in his place for a lame comment.

    Contra- I’m always confused as to which team you root for.. is it the Queens who have lost to the Packers 6 of 7 time, have the worst starting QB in the NFL, and have never one the SB? Or the Bears who have been beaten 6 games straight ? Or the Lions.. who.. ok, that one’s not fair.

    Fess up – I want to learn which perennial loser you root for!

    This is a football site. You do realize that your old, tired, and overused (and universally applicable) insults only force us to bring out our old, tired, and overused “truths” don’t you?

    Such as; a poll amongst active NFL players listed the Packer fans #1 most knowledeable in the NFL? Have you heard that before? Tired of it?Unless you’d like to keep hearing it, I suggest you get some better material. You’re boring, and you’ve been given a chance to be relevent. Take advantage of it.

    Its always the same Viking turds that go on Packer stories and comment. Yes, Finley is an idiot but I don’t mind the fighting at all as a fan. It shows they are hungry. If the Packers were to part ways with Finley look for the same Viking trolls to clamor for his servces.

  43. mattblairfan59 says: Aug 7, 2013 4:19 PM

    Hey prettyflyforawhiteguy1 – how about the largest perennial loser team I can remember in the NFC Central/North? The Packers of the 70’s had THREE (yes, three!!!) winning seasons in that decade. Don’t forget the horror that was Tampa Bay in the 70’s and 80’s. Success in pro sports runs in streaks, so don’t be too proud of your “greatest ever” team. Great teams don’t go 10-15 years without making the playoffs more than once!

  44. greenbowlpackers12 says: Aug 7, 2013 4:29 PM

    @unbiasfan thats just a nice way of saying your locker room is full of pansies. thats why nobody is worried about you in the nfc north. Like AT ALL.

    mattblairfan59 – That is true, how could I forget about the awful awful Bucs teams. Luckily I wasn’t around to see those bad Packers team. My earliest, clear memory of football was watching the ’96 Packers win the Super Bowl and having school canceled so we could all go to their parade. Oh good times. 2010 we were blessed to have won the SB again. Will we keep up this success forever? Tough to say, but we are bound for some down years at some point. My point is the Packers roster is stacked as of present and TT will always keep us in position to win. With TT and Rodgers running the show, we won’t have a losing team.

    I saw this earlier and thought I should share:

    Packers = 4 Super Bowls
    Vikings = 0 Super Bowls
    Lions = 0 Super Bowls
    Bears = 1 Super Bowl

    As fans, we watch and love the game in hopes of our team winning the Super Bowl – not to make the playoffs,, not to earn the #1 pick in the draft – but to watch them win the Super Bowl. As a Packer fan, I know the immense joy in watching my team succeed at a Super Bowl level. I was just pointing out that Vikings fan haven’t had that luxury. Instead, they waste all their time and money watching a team that has never won a Super Bowl. Seems like a waste to follow such a team.
