Seahawks release Early Doucet

Early Doucet AP

When Seahawks fans look back on the Early Doucet era, it will be hard to pick out just one favorite memory.

That is, in part, because it’s already over.

The Seahawks announced they had released the veteran wideout Wednesday, after signing him last Friday.

He only practiced once as a Seahawk, on Sunday, and was apparently struggling with some injury. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told reporters: “He’s been banged up and he’s got some issues that we’re still working with right now.”

Now, he has another issue: The need for a new job.

The Seahawks could still use some help at an injury thinned position, but apparently need someone better able to help now.

Percy Harvin was supposed to add another dimension by stretching the field, so why not sign a guy who can stretch a defense, and give him a shot in camp??? Brandon Llyod is still a FA!!!

I bet he was born before the expected due date and his parents were struggling trying to name him.

The former LSU Tiger will be trying out for the Saints before the end of the week, given their recent injuries at WR.

I guess his intel on the Cardinals wasn’t good enough to earn him a spot.

The Seahawks are in no way ‘thin’ at wide receiver. Sidney Rice, Golden Tate, and Doug Baldwin are established, consistent, far above average starters and 4th round draft pick Chris Harper has looked great in camp. Jermaine Kearse, Phil Bates, and Stephan Williams are pushing those guys for time. There are teams that have better individuals at the position but no team has a better group top to bottom(even without Percy Harvin.)

Is he crazy? Might be a good counterpart to Jennings in Minny…

Funny that Seahawks fans were all about this signing

Actually, Seahawk Fans were happy that they were taking a look at shoring up the WR core. Looking at Early was a good thing. He didn’t cut it and was cut. They need to keep looking and this won’t be the last quy looked at and cut, in all likelyhood.

    Go Hawks!

my guess is that with Percy Harbin unexpectedly needing surgery, Sidney Rice needing a procedure done, the last thing the Seahawks need are surprises and question marks
