There’s a leader in the clubhouse in perhaps the worst quarterback competition in the NFL.

While it’s not much of a surprise, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said he will start Blaine Gabbert in tomorrow’s preseason opener, according to Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union. Chad Henne, his ostensible competition, will also get some time with the first offensive line.

Neither will be able to hand it off to Maurice Jones-Drew, as the veteran running back will not play as he continues his comeback from foot surgery. Injured wideouts Cecil Shorts and Justin Blackmon are also among the nine players who won’t suit up.

Of course, that’s going to make it hard for either quarterback to look good, such that either one of them was going to.
