Philip RIvers’ appearance in the San Diego Chargers’ preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks was brief but effective.

Rivers completed 5 of 6 passes for 45 yards as he led the Chargers down for a field goal on the first drive of the game.

The Chargers converted a fourth down on the drive and settled for a 28-yard field goal from Nick Novak when the drive stalled at the Seahawks 11-yard line.

Ryan Mathews also looked strong in limited action. He carried for 19 yards on three carries, including going up and over the pile to convert a 4th and 1.
