Philip Rivers sharp in lone series for Chargers

Philip RIvers’ appearance in the San Diego Chargers’ preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks was brief but effective.

Rivers completed 5 of 6 passes for 45 yards as he led the Chargers down for a field goal on the first drive of the game.

The Chargers converted a fourth down on the drive and settled for a 28-yard field goal from Nick Novak when the drive stalled at the Seahawks 11-yard line.

Ryan Mathews also looked strong in limited action. He carried for 19 yards on three carries, including going up and over the pile to convert a 4th and 1.

  1. Overall it was a solid day for chargers starters. Both sides of the ball kept the Seahawks in check. Freeny was the most noticeable pushed like a beast.

  2. Rivers is a steal in fantasy this year. SD is going to be surprisingly good, I just feel like they’re nowhere on anyone’s radar and Rivers needs a big contract season performance.

  3. With starters in it was chargers 3 Seahawks 0
With 2nd stringer in it was chargers 0 Seahawks 7
With the rest of the players in it was chargers 7 Seahawks 24

    1. Chargers need depth
    2. Seahawks are for real
    3. Rivers looked cleaner and less pressured than last year.

  4. So he threw some check-downs and completed all but 1. wow:(
On the bright side, Ryan Mathews to a few hand-off and didn’t blow an ACL. Now, THAT’S news!

  5. Is that a picture of Rivers throwing a pass or a video? Hard to tell with the ball just floating in the air like that.

  6. King Dunlap makes a big difference on the O line gave PR the extra one or two seconds needed to find an open receiver. Starting O looks pretty good. The cupboard is bare after that though

Defensive starters looked good also their back ups are not deep. Our roster losses its luster fast once past the starters

  7. The seahawks didn’t ply their starting pass rushers nor starting lbs, and he still was running for his life, most of his successful plays we’re breakdowns. Not impressed with them knowing the seahawks had 18 guys sit out against them.

The LA Chargers are preseason Super Bowl Champs!

    Choo choo!

Oh hey Joe! Good to see you back! We were wondering why you didn’t comment on the Toronto Raiders being ranked # 32.

But as ignorance goes, you do know they were originally the LOS ANGELES CHARGERS, right?

And where were you after you lost the final game of last year to the ummmm….Chargers? after you got swept? Man, you should change your name to Whodini. Since you do a great vanishing act! Love how you got called out and folded when someone pointed out that you actually said you’d never been to a Raider game, never set foot in California, and only rooted for the Raiders because you liked the team colors. lol You my dear friend, are quite the character!

  9. Right side of Chargers oline (Fluker and Clary) were destroying the Seahawks. Oline looks miles better than last year. Fluker is a beast.

  10. joetoronto is a poser raider fan!!

u sound liek a girl saying u like a team becasue of the teams colors…. joe”poser”toronto

  11. I don’t know what’s funnier. Natelan’s comments or Philip Rivers leading the chargers to a championship.

I don’t know what’s funnier. The fact that you are so dumb you didn’t know Philip Rivers DID lead the Chargers to a championship…4 times. Check the stats lil’ man. AFC West CHAMPIONS four times while he has been at the helm. Idiot.
