Rams right tackle Rodger Saffold left Thursday’s preseason opener at Cleveland with a shoulder injury and is doubtful to return, the club said.

Saffold was hurt on the Rams’ second offensive snap, a pass play.

Formerly the Rams’ left tackle, Saffold has moved to the right side with Jake Long now in the fold.

Saffold, 25, is in his fourth NFL season. He played collegiately at Indiana.

UPDATE 10:34 p.m. ET: Per Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com, Fisher indicated in a radio interview that Saffold’s injury is not serious, with X-rays coming back negative.

And so it begins for the rams. I can’t remember the last time the team has stayed relatively healthy throughout the season.

Rams stayed relatively healthy through last season-tied for fewest players on IR.

Save the woe is us crap. You’ve had it easier than a lot of teams this year.

Shoulder injuries on tackles are as bad or worse than knees. Tackles need punch to hold off defenders. What happens when he gets tossed onto the artificial turf at the dome? This is what ended Pace’s career. Book this position as one of the Ram’s first round picks next year. Roger is gone. Good player but damaged goods.

Had to laugh at Jake (the savior) Long stumbling around the field.

The Dolphins were smart to off load him as he is a shell of his former self.

    Yep! Whew.

By the way… to you want to look up the Rams injury stats for 2011, 2010, and 2009? Then maybe adjust your “last year was fine” idiotic soundbite a little it?

    Why would I adjust it?

He said he couldn’t remember the last time the Rams got through a season relatively healthy.

I can. It was less than twelve months ago.

And your team has yet to suffer a significant injury in 2013, including this one.

Ram fans are pretty good at feeling sorry for themselves, but this is nothing.

Sounds like the big fella wanted a night off. That’s all.
