Bears lose Patrick Mannelly to rib injury

Patrick Mannelly AP

Every coach wants to look at his depth in the preseason.

But no coach wants to have to resort to certain backups.

The Bears will be without long snapper Patrick Mannelly for the rest of tonight’s game with the Panthers with a rib injury. That leaves linebacker James Anderson to handle the snapping the rest of the night.

Anderson’s a starting linebacker who was a good special teamer earlier in his career, but this is the kind of emergency situation no coach wants to get into, especially with a regular.

Man you should hide right now. dont get me started on the Packers!
TOO LATE! preseason or not Aaron Rodgers played in that game and the Packers had ZERO points. that O-line is going to get Rodgers killed. and your FAT RB didnt even play. Starks tried hard as he could but behind that O-line he was running east and west. and that defensive back field looked like swiss cheese when Palmer got threw with them.
and ohh Johnny FAT PURPLE DRANK Jolly looked like he just got out of JAIL. man it really aint enough room on this site for me to keep going. Vince Young ha ha ha ha thats a good one. But the packers are going to the Superbowl ha ha ha ha now thats better. the 49ers cant wait. I cant wait for the season to start
