Plaxico Burress to have shoulder surgery on Monday

Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress will have surgery Monday on an apparent “significant shoulder injury,” coach Mike Tomlin said in a club-issued statement on Friday.

PFT reported Thursday night that Burress sustained a torn rotator cuff in a practice fall, an injury that could threaten to end his season, considering its seriousness.

Burress’ condition will be assessed on Monday, Tomlin said.

Burress, 35, is in his second stint with Pittsburgh. He’s caught 553 passes for 8,499 yards for 64 touchdowns.

Get well Plax! Not sure if he was going to make the roster this year, but I hate to see anyone get injured. His injury may be worst than some of the others considering this may be career threatening. Not many people will be interested in a 36 year old old receiver coming off an injury.

Did he shoot himself in the shoulder?

Who didn’t see the “he shot himself in the shoulder” jokes coming?

Tomlin, Tuesday morning expect a call from Harbs. A one-armed Plax would be their 2nd best pass-catcher. Jones could have 3 shouldrrs arms and not catch as many as Plax.

As the late, great Roy Orbison would sing: “It’s over, it’s over.”

but i thought jones made flacco look good in the playoffs. or was it the other way around? you are slipping my friend

you misunderstood scoobs, I didn’t say Jones wasn’t good enough to catch lob passes, he just wouldn’t catch as many as Plax.

Since these comments seem to be mostly about the Ravens, let me just say this:
    “Joe Flacco is Elite!”

Hate to see Plax go down, the steelers could have used him in the red zone this year but the next man will have to step up and be ready. He definitely is not irreplaceable and besides the red zone, he probably wouldnt have seen the field much anyways. Not a huge loss.

Plax doesn’t make or break this team. Jones would gave had a better season the plax. Old and slow and brittle team? Seriously? First major injury to the team on a WR at the bottom of the depth chart. They’ve been a top 5 def the last few years when they were old and slow. Just keep in hating and we’ll see you in the playoffs.

    I don’t get Plax…

I assume the Steelers were both desperate and ignorant…..

    Either way, who cares….

I suspect that the only person that cares about his career is himself.
And possibly a couple of drooling Steeler fans….
