The New York Giants lost wide receiver Kris Adams to injury early in the second half of their preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday night.

On the second play from scrimmage of the third quarter, Adams slipped on a pass thrown to him by quarterback Curtis Painter. Adams was being covered by Steelers’ cornerback Josh Victorian on the play. His right foot landed on the left foot of Victorian instead of the turf. It caused him to lose his footing and his left leg caught awkwardly underneath him as a result. Adams clutched at his ankle area on the ground and needed to be carted off the field.

According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, the Giants announced Adams suffered a fractured leg.

Adams was targeted on three passes during the game but didn’t record a catch before leaving with the injury. Adams appeared in three games with the Indianapolis Colts last season and caught two passes for 26 yards.
