Steelers rookie running back Le’Veon Bell will have to wait to make his NFL debut.
Bell, among the primary competitors for carries for Pittsburgh, will miss Saturday night’s preseason opener against the Giants with a left knee injury, Bob Labriola of Steelers Digest reported.
Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Bell missed last Saturday’s practice with a left knee bruise.
According to Labriola, head coach Mike Tomlin made the call to sit Bell in the opener.
With Bell out, veterans Isaac Redman, Jonathan Dwyer and Baron Batch are the Steelers’ top three options at the position. But there is considerable intrigue about Bell, whom the Steelers drafted in the second round in April.
