Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell sidelined for preseason opener

Le'Veon Bell, Kirby Wilson AP

Steelers rookie running back Le’Veon Bell will have to wait to make his NFL debut.

Bell, among the primary competitors for carries for Pittsburgh, will miss Saturday night’s preseason opener against the Giants with a left knee injury, Bob Labriola of Steelers Digest reported.

Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Bell missed last Saturday’s practice with a left knee bruise.

According to Labriola, head coach Mike Tomlin made the call to sit Bell in the opener.

With Bell out, veterans Isaac Redman, Jonathan Dwyer and Baron Batch are the Steelers’ top three options at the position. But there is considerable intrigue about Bell, whom the Steelers drafted in the second round in April.

Browns are going to spank the Steelers.

Looks like LaRod Stephens-Howling is the Steelers best option. Even before he came out running, he should have been mentioned over Batch, who will probably be cut completely or they will try to sneak him onto the practice squad.

Tomlin and Looney are obviously terrified the fans will turn on them when this wasted draft pick gets shut down all night. This little”Bell” pepper is going to get stuffed sooner or later. Might as well get it over with now.

No Rush to get Bell in the mix, we got the whole season for that.
The browns couldn’t spank themselves much less steelers.

Stephens-Howling is going to be a surprise. He looked awesome tonight with the starters.

12 57 Glad to see Tomlin being cautious with Bell as it looks like the line is starting to jell.

Giving the Rooney’s and alias is so unique…..oh wait no its not ….don’t you specialize in using an alias.
