Broncos get Clady, Rodgers-Cromartie back at practice

It was a day of happy returns at Broncos practice on Saturday.

Left tackle Ryan Clady and cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie were both on the practice field for Denver, allowing the team to start easing the two key players back into the mix after time off to recover from injuries. For Clady, it was the first time he’d taken snaps during team drills since offseason shoulder surgery and coach John Fox said that the team would continue to monitor Clady’s work to assure he’s ready for the season.

“We’re obviously taking that slow and trying to be as smart as possible,” Fox said, via Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com. “We’re still trying to get Ryan ready for the season opener. At this stage I think everything is on target.”

Rodgers-Cromartie had missed more than a week after spraining his ankle early in camp and returned Saturday for individual drills and the walkthrough portion of practice. The cornerback isn’t sure if he’ll play in next week’s preseason game against the Seahawks and Clady’s chances for any preseason action are unknown, but their availability for those games feels less significant than the fact that they’re on track to play in games that mean something.
