Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril has been out for the bulk of training camp with a hamstring injury, and he could miss two more weeks, head coach Pete Carroll said Sunday.
However, Carroll indicated that both Avril and tight end Zach Miller (foot) are healing well, and that the club is going to take a “conservative” approach in advance of the season.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if by the end of this week they’re doing more and getting closer to the practice field,” Carroll said of Miller and Avril.
The Seahawks added Avril, one of the top free agents available this offseason, to an already strong defense, and Carroll is eager to see him on the field.
“It would be great to have him out there just for the continuity of everybody involved,” Carroll said.
