Panthers fullback Michael Zordich out for season

Panthers rookie fullback Michael Zordich will miss the 2013 season with an ACL injury, the club said Sunday.

The injury occurred in the club’s preseason opener vs. Chicago, the club said.

Zordich, 23, is an undrafted free agent from Penn State.  He signed with the Panthers in May after rushing for a career-best 301 yards for the Nittany Lions in 2012. His father, Mike, had a 12-season NFL career as a defensive back (1987-1998).

With Zordich injured, starter Mike Tolbert is the only healthy fullback on the Panthers’ roster.

Zordich? More like Zordon. “Alpha! Rita has escaped! Recruit a team of teenagers with attitude.”

Hope the NFL works out for him, but if it doesn’t, the leadership he showed, along with guys like Mauti, Hodges, and (can’t believe I’m saying this) McGloin during the dumpster-fire that he had to deal with at Penn State showed he’ll be successful in whatever career-path he takes.

Fun people strike again. I find the Zordon comment amusing.

Anyways another season ending injury to add to the list before season starts.

I’m just shocked a NFL FB was used enough to get injured these days.

no because richie brockel is a fullback tightend but mostly plays fullback and was the starting fullback before tolbert came to carolina. do some research next time bud

Did someone make a “yeah, but I bet half the NFL won’t tear ACLs…” type of comment before training camp?

Panthers will have to prepare themselves for the post Zordich era in Charlotte.

I think this pretty much seals a roster spot for Richie Brockel again. He has played FB primarily although he is listed as a TE ..He’s more of an H-back. He’s been nothing short of a solid role player the last few years.

I’m not sure Zordich was going to make the team, what with Tolbert and Brockel there. The blessing is that he gets to stay with the team and learn the system while he rehabs.
