RG3 workload continues to increase

Robert Griffin III AP

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan is willing to be the bad cop (now) when it comes to quarterback Robert Griffin III’s workload.

But it appears that Griffin’s insistence that he’s ready to do more is being heard.

According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, Griffin took 53 of the 70 snaps in the Redskins walkthrough this morning. (And as a side note, tracking walkthrough snaps is something the Jets beat writers are going to have to start doing more of, because frankly we’re getting bored with Mark Sanchez’s 7-on-7 passer rating.)

Jones said RG3 is expected to do some 11-on-11 work tomorrow, as they continue to try to keep him progressing in his comeback from knee surgery, without putting the regular season opener in jeopardy.

As long as Robert does not let up on the HGH he will continue to heal faster than anyone else.

Shanny please be careful this time…and RG3 you too! Do not rush it man just let yourself heal and come back at 110%.

    HTTR!!!

RGIII will play smarter this year. He will throw 10% more and run 10% less. He will increase his efficiency from a highly efficient rookie year and be a top 5 QB by season’s end. All that, and he is one of the most exciting players in the NFL to watch.

The R-Words wasted a first round pick and many future picks on this guy thinking he would save the franchise. He is just another draft bust by this pathetic organization. Keep trying, but the R-Words will always be playing in the Ravens shadow.

I love RG3, but also notice that his recovery timetable always seems to speed up after Kirk Cousins has a good outing. Do you suppose he knows only too well that Captain Kirk could run this offense very well, and does not want to even open the door a crack to a QB controversy?

This isn’t even the original guy. Why are you doing this? Do you want PFT to be completely unusable by people who actually want to talk about football? logical dude is bad enough, but then we got logicail and logica1 and yada yada yada. Redskins fans have no problem with the Ravens or their fanbase– quit trying to instigate arguments where none are needed.

Griff’s recovery has continued at a steady pace since January. And more importantly, Griffin is in no way in charge of his own rehab and practice schedule. Shanny has pretty tight grip on everything the Third does with a football in his hand.

Moreover, I think we all know Cousins could run the offense, but everyone also knows, including Cousins himself, that Griffin is simply better. Cousins is a starting caliber quarterback, and will be a very capable (perhaps the league’s most capable) backup until the third year of his rookie contract, at which point he will probably be traded for a solid payout.

Cousins is great, but Griffin is the unquestionable leader of this team, and unless something unforeseen and bizarre happens Cousins will continue playing well, Griffin will continue being the starter and there will be no controversy.

RG3. Should stand for Relax Guy Relax Guy Relax Guy. Do what your coaches say, don’t undermine them from podium, don’t be borderline insubordinate, and don’t act like you’re better/safer option than healthy tested capable Cousins.
