Bruce Arians unsure when Ryan Williams will return

Cardinals running back Ryan Williams has missed most of training camp with trouble in the knee he injured as a rookie in 2011.

Asked Tuesday when the third-year pro might be back, coach Bruce Arians indicated he could not offer a timetable.

“I have absolutely no idea,” Arians said, per Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic.

In a feature published in the Republic on Tuesday, Somers wrote that “there is a feeling in camp that Williams needs to quit worrying about the knee and play.”

Williams, 23, missed his entire rookie season after the knee injury, and he was limited to five games after a shoulder injury in 2012. If ever there was a time for him to return the field and show something, this is it. The coach (Ken Whisenhunt) and GM (Rod Graves) in place when he was drafted are gone. Of course, Williams needs to be healthy enough to show what he can do.

    He won’t.

Feel bad for him. He’s proven to be just as brittle as Mr. Glass from Unbreakable. Stephan Taylor and Andre Ellingson have a lot of upside, so there may not be a place for him. Hopefully, Alfonso Smith gets a fair shot this year as well.

Either way, I’m def glad that football is back!

This is the problem with “player safety”. He clearly isn’t feeling like he’s ready to go…but if he doesn’t he’s out of a job.

Another legacy of ‘The Whiz’ – how many glass running backs did they waste high level draft picks on, year after year? Is Beanie Wells out of the NFL yet?

This dude needs to hang it up. Sad that he had such a devastating injury before he even started and has just continued getting hurt, but some players’ bodies just aren’t built for the NFL grind.

I have been rooting so hard for this guy but sadly its time to move on. He’s beginning to make Beanie Wells look like superman.

Really sad this kid never got the chance to smell the grass. He had some serious talent and will likely never see the field again. Yet, there are players like Kolb with the same issues and far less talent and given chance after chance and millions upon millions.
