Chargers say Malcom Floyd has knee strain

Chargers wide receiver Malcom Floyd has a strained knee, the club said on its website Monday night.

Per Chargers.com, there wasn’t any other information on the injury.

A strain is an injury to a tendon or muscle, not a ligament.

The Chargers’ top wide receiver in 2012, the 31-year-old Floyd was injured in practice earlier on Monday and was taken off the field via cart.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Floyd has been a field-stretching threat in San Diego’s offense in recent seasons. He’s had at least 12 catches of 20 yards or more in the last four campaigns.

In 2012, Floyd started a career-best 14 games, catching 56 passes for 814 yards and five touchdowns.
