Wade Smith gets knee scoped, no word on return

Bob McNair, Wade Smith AP

The Texans are going to be without one of their Pro Bowlers, for at least the near future.

According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, left guard Wade Smith had an arthroscopic procedure on his knee and will be out an “undetermined time.”

That leaves 2012 fourth-rounder Ben Jones as the starter for the moment.

Smith banged knees with a teammate a week ago and hadn’t practiced since, so he was sent for another look. While the Texans have some degree of depth up front, being without high-level starters is something no team needs.

This O line is getting weaker by the day. And with Foster not practicing for going on 2 1/2 months now… the running game that this entire offense is predicated on looks to be in serious trouble.

The last place the Texans could afford an injury.
