Report: Nate Garner out indefinitely for Dolphins

Nate Garner AP

The Miami Dolphins are already thin at the right guard position with John Jerry still working his way back from a knee injury. Now one of the guys that has been taking his place could miss significant time as well.

According to Jeff Darlington of the NFL Network, Garner badly injured his shoulder during practice on Monday and is out indefinitely.

With Lance Louis still isn’t able to work in team drills as he recovers from a torn ACL last season, it’s left the Dolphins scrambling for options. According to Chris Perkins of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Josh Samuda had been working at right guard before having a poor showing against the Jacksonville Jaguars last week and getting moved back to center. Now with the injury to Garner, Samuda is back at right guard.

Until Jerry or Louis can return, the Dolphins will be working with a patchwork solution on the right side of their line. If Samuda can’t hold up this week against the Houston Texans, Miami may need to explore options out of the organization to fill the hole.

John Jerry is not still out, he practiced today.

    With the first team, too.

nate garner is truly awful. a backup guard making 1.25 million who literally cannot play guard in the nfl under any conditions. he got ridiculously worked in the dolphins preseason games against 2nd and 3rd teamers. just recently signed too – one of ireland’s bigger mistakes.

This Oline is going to lose us games. There is no depth and Martin at LT so far has been a fail. If Pouncey or Clabo go down then we are really screwed

And nothing of value was lost.

    Dear Andy,

I know I didn’t play nicely in the sandbox before. For that I am truly sorry. Anyway, I’ll give you a second and a third for Brandon Abert.

    Sincerely yours,

    Jeff

Tannehill must really be loving this. They made a good trade up to third, only to draft a special teams/hybrid linebacker when they knew there were issues along the OL.

The kid must be shaking his head.

    That line is looking rough.

Should have doen that Albert trade…

Gonna get Tannehill spooked and gun shy.

O-line has been our Achilles heel for the longest… Jonathan Martin is the most important player on our team…. If he can’t block, Tannehill can’t get the ball to Wallace!

Jerry will be back to start week 1, let’s just how Tannehill survives til then.

Hope he survives, just disappointing that these guys can’t build that trust together.

If I were Samuda, I’d be worried. RG seems to be jinxed.

Didn’t realize so many Dolphins players and coaches commented on these message boards. THEY will figure it out, while WE watch the games and hope for more wins than losses.

Perhaps if Jerry and Louis can’t go, they can trade for Dean or Martin…

Trading for Albert would be about as stupid as using a #1 overall draft pick on a RT.

John Jerry is practicing again so we do have hope at RG. Hopefully Lance Louis can start making contributions. With Dustin Keller out RT may need time to find a receiver now. Our running game will prove with better blocking
