Patriots fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Tom Brady, who left practice after being knocked down and experiencing pain in his left knee, is apparently going to be fine.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Brady’s injury has been diagnosed as a sprain and is not serious. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the MRI on Brady’s knee was negative and he now is considered day to day.

Brady went down during a joint practice with the Buccaneers, when Tampa Bay defensive end Adrian Clayborn pushed New England left tackle Nate Solder into Brady. When he went to the ground, Brady immediately grabbed his left knee and appeared to be in pain. He was able to get up and walk, but he left the practice field.

Fortunately, this was not a repeat of his 2008 ACL tear, or even anything close to that serious. We may see more Ryan Mallett and Tim Tebow for the rest of the preseason, but Brady should be good to go when the games count.
