Barkevious Mingo suffers bruised lung, Dion Lewis breaks fibula

Browns rookie outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo suffered a bruised lung in Thursday’s exhibition win vs. Detroit, head coach Rob Chudzinski said after the game, per multiple media reports.

Mingo was to spend the night in the hospital, per multiple reports.

Chudzinski also announced that reserve running back Dion Lewis had suffered a broken fibula, according to multiple reports. Lewis had played well during the summer and was competing for the top backup role behind starter Trent Richardson.

With Lewis hurt Thursday and Montario Hardesty recovering from knee surgery, the Browns’ running back depth is somewhat thin at the halfway point of the preseason.

The same can be said for the Browns’ guard depth. Jason Pinkston, who started at right guard vs. Detroit, suffered an ankle injury, and he was in a walking boot after the game, according to Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland.

They announced during the game it was a sprain for Dion Lewis. And wow the broadcasters for the first 2 Lions games were just awful all game long. Although that’s how it has always been.

Shame Lewis is gone for the year. He could have been Norv Turner’s Darren Sproles!

OK, I’ve never been a HC, GM or stayed in a Holiday Inn Express, but W(hy)TF do you put the #6 pick of the 2013 draft on Special Teams?

Butch Davis did the same thing and lost Kellen Winslow for the year!

Talk about a snake bit franchise. Even when they win, they lose.

This is just another example of why preseason needs to be only 2 games. To lose some of your starters or the backups a team was counting on in meaningless games is just idiotic.

How does Alex Green sound from the Packers? Guy might be looking for a home soon. Decent back

Nice pass Jason Campbell. Left Lewis fully exposed.

Injuries are a part of the game and it is vital to have competent depth throughout the board. With their play and additions, this team has created much promise and excitement among fans locally. What I’m most interested in seeing is the fans reaction to these losses. Will they take the ‘woe is me’ approach and complain that their promise is diminishing as soon as it started to rise? Or will they realize that these things happen, move on, and look for the next batch of guys to step in and continue the excitement? Living in Cleveland while having no stake in the Browns, my past experience tends to think that it will mostly be the former, but I am hoping for the latter.

At the game, knew Dion was hurt badly. Bad throw by Campbell, left Dion exposed over the middle. Would have liked to hear Bernie’s reaction to the throw.

How do you bruise a lung?

Dion got his leg broken? Maybe he’s a snitch too.

I’m still excited for the Browns this year, they looked really-really good.
