Calvin Johnson sitting out with knee contusion

Calvin Johnson AP

Lions receiver Calvin Johnson is sitting out tonight’s preseason game.

The Lions have announced that Johnson won’t suit up against the Browns while he nurses a knee contusion.

There’s no reason to believe that this knee contusion is anything serious. The Lions probably just want to get other receivers (like Patrick Edwards, who will start in Johnson’s place) more work. The Lions also don’t want to expose their best player to injury.

And anyway, it’s not like Megatron needs any preseason work. Johnson caught three passes for 58 yards in the Lions’ preseason debut, and he did that in only two series. Yes, Johnson is ready for another big year, and no, he doesn’t need another preseason game to get ready.

Should have been wearing knee pads… oh wait.

CJ can just go ahead and retire from the preseason permanently and that would be just fine.

Primed for another big year because Lions’ defense has yet to address their horrendous secondary and therefore constantly play from behind.

Contusion is one of the most ambiguous words out there. I’m sure it’s not thing though.

Contusion is not ambiguous at all. It means bruise…

Unless you are also confused about the word ambiguous haha

He’s just fine. I see at least one of the rabble has no shame in exposing his lack of football knowledge. Well done, smudge!

Best thing that could happen to Stafford, he wont build chemistry with other receivers as long as CJ is in there

Missed the game, just saw the lowlights and read the descriptions in the Metro Detroit papers. Very disappointing how Burleson and Pettigrew failed to step up.

And the secondary was awful once again.
