In what could become one of the more special preseason games in recent memory, the Jaguars travel to play the Jets Saturday night.

And it will be a showdown of a pair of former first-round quarterbacks trying to hold onto their jobs.

According to the Associated Press, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley told reporters after practice today that Blaine Gabbert would start again this week, giving him an apparent edge in the competition with Chad Henne. Bradley said he talked to Henne about the decision, and said that Gabbert needed more reps so they could make a complete evaluation.

Frankly, it’s the only decision that makes sense. Henne-caliber quarterbacks are available annually. And even if the Jaguars decide Gabbert’s no good, the previous administration invested a first-round pick in him, so they owe it to themselves to give him every chance to fail before moving on.
