The Falcons knew that to get Tony Gonzalez back for another year, there were going to be certain times they were going to have to work without him.
But coaches are using technology to keep tabs on him, and keep him in the loop during training camp.
“We’ve been in communications with him quite a bit with the technology that we have today, its state-of-the-art,” tight ends coach Chris Scelfo said, via D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We’ll get him up to speed. We are using the iPad and we speak just about every night.”
Gonzalez was with the team for the first two days of camp, but has been on family leave since then.
The way he’s kept himself in shape throughout his career means he can be trusted to be away, and hopefully fresh for the grind of his 17th NFL season.
