A bruised lung sounds like a highly unpleasant injury, but it doesn’t look like it will cause Browns linebacker Barkevious Mingo to miss much time.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Mingo will be released from the hospital on Friday after spending the night there after getting hurt against the Lions on Thursday. Rapoport also reports that Mingo is expected to miss the next week or so while recovering from the injury, which likely means he’ll miss the third preseason game while being healthy in time to start the regular season on the field.

The prognosis could be considerably worse, all things considered, and Mingo shouldn’t have much of a problem holding onto his projected role as a rotational pass rusher on defense.

There’s also an update on the health of guard Jason Pinkston’s ankle. It’s a high ankle sprain for Pinkston, according to veteran NFL writer Jason Cole, and that will put his availability for the start of the season in doubt. With Shawn Lauvao recovering from his own ankle surgery, that would likely place Garrett Gilkey at right guard for the open of the season.
