When running back Doug Martin left last night’s game after taking a knee to the head, the Buccaneers said he was being “evaluated,” carefully avoiding the C word.

But Martin himself said he passed concussion tests, and could have returned to the game, after Chandler Jones’ knee struck him in the helmet.

“It was just a tough play,” Martin said, via Stephen Holder of the Tampa Bay Times. “Things happen.”

Martin was going low on Jones after missing a previous block, which led to a sack of Josh Freeman. It wasn’t the best start for Martin, but at least he escaped without a more serious problem.
