The Eagles announced the signing of defensive end Eddie McClam on Saturday.

McClam will take part in Saturday’s practice, the club said. He spent last summer with the Lions, who waived him in August.

An Old Dominion product, McClam notched 42 tackles as a senior in 2011. He blocked seven kicks in his collegiate career, according to the school.

McClam (6-5, 265) gives the Eagles eight defensive ends on the roster.

Riley Cooper is offended by this signing…

We already have enough DE’s…..and plenty for practice reps. Kinda strange signing. Maybe we should be combing the FA market for safeties or wide receivers these next few weeks instead of signing guys that definitely won’t crack the practice squad?

Maybe the Eagles special teams coach thinks this guy can block kicks on field goal & extra point attempts, a big plus if he can.

I think Chip is most interested in the 7 blocked kicks.

The last thing we need is to sign another WR. DeSean, Cooper, Avant, Johnson, and any number of WRs for the fifth spot. Despite the weak preseason so far, I like Momah. Because u can’t teach 6’8…. My guess is Salas grabs the last spot though.

Why is it every time I read his last name I think it’s a misprint?

I consider myself as diehard a Lions fan as any, but I can honestly say I don’t have the slightest remembrance of this guy.

Sounds like something you would by at McDonalds.

    7 blocked kicks + #7 = Super Bowl

Weird signing. Sounds like a temporary move or move that has more to do with filling spot for a few days. We don’t need any more DE’s. he’s good size though, so maybe they want him to improve run defense.

MT stole my thunder. Sounds like McDonald’s least popular sandwich ever.

The Eagles defense will see an awful of extra point kicks this season so going after an extra point blocking specialist, adds up I guess…

I can’t figure this move at all.
