Champ Bailey has no torn ligaments in left foot

The suddenly battered Denver Broncos have gotten a little good news.

Per Lindsay Jones of USA Today, an initial MRI on the left foot of cornerback Champ Bailey revealed no ligament damage.

Given that Bailey had both a walking boot and crutches after Saturday’s loss to the Seahawks, the preliminary determination that the ligaments is a pleasant surprise.

Bailey was one of five key Broncos injured on Saturday.   The others include defensive end Derek Wolfe (neck), linebacker Stewart Bradley (wrist), guard Louis Vasquez (knee), and receiver Wes Welker (ankle).

It’s unclear when Bailey will be ready to play.  The other first-string cornerback, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, sustained a high-ankle sprain early in training camp.  He’s back at practice, but he has yet to play in a preseason game.

Everytime I hear a Champ Bailey story I’m reminded of how stupid the Redskins front office was back in the day. We drafted this guy and then traded for Portis. Now Portis is retired and Champ is still going strong at a very high level.

Thanks Cererato! I guess he did it for the Fans!

I didn’t even realize Rodgers-Cromartie was on Denver. Guess that Kolb-Philly trade didn’t work out so well either.

I’m glad the injury wasn’t too serious.

Even in a game as fun and intense as this preseason game was, injuries aren’t good: the fewer and the less serious, the better.

Wow lets take it easy bmore and sea bird fans. It was just a preseason game lol. I dare the seahawks to play man defense on the broncos in a real game. Welker thomas and decker would tear that up.

Skins fans are so ungrateful. Portis played at a near elite level during his time in DC, and on a consistently terrible team. He was literally the only bright spot for years and years.

Bailey would have wasted his career here. As a Skins fan I don’t regret the trade one iota.

worldsgreatest: That was a solid trade for both teams. I really was upset at first when we let Portis go because he was a game changer, very explosive ect. But we really needed a CB like Bailey. The problem is Shanny never invested in defense while he was here. One of the Broncos I hope wins a ring before he retires is Bailey, the dude is a class act.

Donkeys, Mules….Go ahead Squawks fans, be classless in a completely meaningless game. Your team does look good but wait until the regular season to run your mouths. And even then, consider the concept of “class”….it will help alleviate some of the malaligned hatred towards your team. Nit Wits.

Stewart Bradley getting injured would help the defense. Man that guy sucks in coverage.
