Champ Bailey on crutches after Broncos game

Defensive tackle Derek Wolfe’s injury grabbed a bit more attention since it involved being taken from the field in an ambulance, but the positive early news on his condition means that it might not wind up as the most significant injury suffered by a Bronco on Saturday night.

That honor could wind up going to the foot injury suffered by Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey. Bailey was on crutches and his left foot was in a boot as the Broncos left Seattle after feeling something strain on the bottom of his foot during the game.

“I wish I could describe it,” Bailey said, via Mike Klis of the Denver Post. “We’ll see.”

Any time a player has pain in his foot, the great fear is that it is a Lisfranc injury. They have ruined seasons for many players and they can often be discovered on MRIs after x-rays turn up nothing suspect.

Bailey’s x-rays were negative, but he’ll be going for an MRI on Sunday, so there will likely be some breath holding going on in Denver until the results of that test are known.

The NFL wants to improve players’ safety? Then, enough with 4 pre-season games.

The way Torrey Smith had his way with Bailey in the playoffs… I’m not sure if this injury helps or hurts the Ravens.

They might actually prefer him out there to another corner.

It’s a lisfranc fracture. Too bad great player. What a blow for Denver though, wow.

Dang! On one level – I am sorry for Champ if he is out for injury. A great player and person. On the next level – I am also upset if he is out for the opener, because Torrey Smith owns him.

Golden Tate made a great down the field catch that would put anyone on crutches.

But the story is, that everybody’s darling to represent the AFC in the SB, got drubbed by Seattle. The game was not as close as the score.

Top it off with the fact that Manning was not the best QB on the field last night and you have PROBLEMS….

    Always thought he was overrated.

He was terrible in the playoffs last year. It’s probably time to hang up the cleats.

This guy played on a team with Deion Sanders and Darrell Green. That’s a loooooooong time ago. Cost them a chance to go to the Super Bowl last year. Time to coach high school and be a position coach.

Really Seahawks fans? You are this excited after a preseason game? If there was an actual game plan your punk team would have been toast.

  18. jiminauburn says: Aug 18, 2013 4:17 PM

So Denver would have gotten better if they had a game plan, so that they would not have been crushed 40-10. But somehow Seattle would not have gotten better with a game plan?

When someone crushes you 40-10, even in preseason, that is a sign of who the better team is.

  19. azwildcats96 says: Aug 18, 2013 7:00 PM

ROFL@All the Seahawk fans that think the final score of a preseason game shows who the better team is.

  20. whatwhat2013 says: Aug 18, 2013 11:07 PM

I’d rather my team have scored 40pts in a preseason than 10pts. Preseason, Regular Season, Playoffs… nope. Just simple arithmetic. 40 > 10. LOL
