Kubiak: Texans got good news on Ed Reed

EdReed AP

The Texans have reasons to be optimistic that safety Ed Reed can get off the physically unable to perform list and on the field.

Houston coach Gary Kubiak said the team got good news about Reed on Saturday, after he spent time working with a hip specialist in Atlanta.

Still, the time frame for Reed’s return to the field remains unclear. And Kubiak has been sounding optimistic notes about Reed for a month, and yet the Texans still haven’t been able to get Reed on the practice field.

So while the news on Reed may be good, we still don’t know if we’re going to see what would really qualify as good news: Reed on the field for the Texans in Week One.

Don’t be shocked if he’s out there for the opener. He loves to play, and as long as he’s properly conditioned he’s one player that can blow off camp and practice.

Still weird seeing him in Texans gear.

reed is going to have to learn to become a cheap shot, aka the texans’ way.

Ed Reed was the player the Balt-D looked up to.
This is a man who LOVES to hit. He enjoys the BANG. He does. Ask him. POW ! He Loves to hit.
It’s a shame Flacco tore up the team with his greed for money. Nothing is going to sit well in that locker room knowing he drove guys off to GET HIS.

Texans let 27 y/o glover quin leave for a 5 mil/yr deal but sign 35 y/o broken down reed for 5mil/ yr. OK… Half of Ozzie’s greatness is knowing when not to sign a guy

lets see….baltimore does love ed reed and he was a leader. thats true. ed reed hasnt liked hitting in 4 years. and flacco has a lower cap number this year than last year. so 1 out of 3 for the tool of tools. texans fans, you will love reed. if he is healthy, and with the texans pass rush, he should have a big year. hes a great fit

Sure you’re thinking of Ed Reed? His biggest problem towards the end in Baltimore is that he WOULDN’T hit anybody. That and players jumping over him.

Ed reed stopped hitting about three or four years ago. He is still a great ball hawk and loves to bait QBs, but with the hip surgery you have to worry about him regaining his speed. For U texans fans who are worried , don’t be. He doesn’t do practice, but he will show up when it counts

Man, Ed Reed looks great for being 57.

Ed’s been fine all a long. He doesn’t do training camp. He’ll be there when the games count. Harbaugh didn’t want Ed back. THAT’S why he’s not with the Ravens.

Don’t be fooled. There is a reason the Ravens let him walk. Because he’s done.

All he was doing was giving illegal hits to the head of opposing WR’s and being allowed to do it because the Ravens are Goodall’s favorite team.

Ravens knew it was just a matter of time before the Reed would seriously hurt somebody and the word would be out that he can’t cover anymore.

Reed sucked the Texans out of that money. Good for him. If you got a sucker…you lick em!

Now I’ve heard everything. First it was the Ravens cheated because they used PED’s, now the fix was in because the commish is a Ravens fan.

The Ravens are a mid market team that has found few new fans since winning another Super Bowl. That translates to little of what Goodell cares about which is money. He didn’t want the Ravens in the Super Bowl, and he definitely didn’t want them to win it.

Sorry to go so far off topic but that silly post was impossible not to comment on.

How old is Ed Reed? He LOOKS about 56 years old in most of the pics I see of him.

And to those saying Flacco ‘tore this team up with greed’, you realize that in 2013, he has a cap hit of $6,800,000, right? To name some guys with bigger cap hits:

    Matt Schaub $7,250,000
    Alex Smith $7,500,000
    Mark Sanchez $8,250,000
    Josh Freeman $8,430,000
    Jay Cutler $8,470,000
    Sam Bradford $9,000,000

So Ed Reed went to a team with a QB who has a higher cap hit, and has never won a damned thing in his career. Flacco, on the other hand, is 9-4 in the playoffs with a Super Bowl ring and Super Bowl MVP award. So, yeah. There’s that.

Ravens letting go Ed Reed had nothing to do with the greatness of Ozzie. He wasnt resigned because he and Bernard pollard turned Harbaugh into the union for practice violations of hitting too much.

If Harbaugh wanted either of them they would have been resigned. Harbaugh wanted to clean house on guys who whine to the union about every little thing.

I thought the good news was that the Texans found a time machine and were able to make it 2004.
