Pugh to make preseason debut

Pugh

After missing 11 days with a concussion suffered during training camp, Giants rookie tackle Justin Pugh will see his first NFL game action on Sunday, when the Giants host the Colts.

No pressure at all,’’ Pugh said, via Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. “I think when you step out there, it doesn’t matter what round you’re drafted in. You’re in the lineup against a guy and that’s the battle, regardless of a first-round pick and wherever they’re from. So just go out there and play every play. Do what I have to do and do my job.”

Pugh said he’ll be a little nervous, but the stakes are much lower now that Pugh has missed so much time during his rookie training camp. He was expected to compete with David Diehl for the starting job at right tackle. It’s now more likely that Pugh will be a reserve during his rookie season.

Unless, of course, one of the starting tackles gets injured.
