Le’Veon Bell leaves after one series with an injured foot

Steelers rookie running back Le’Veon Bell missed the first preseason game because of a left knee injury and then was in and out of practice last week for the same reason, but he healed up enough to make the start at running back on Monday night against the Steelers.

Bell didn’t last long before heading back to the trainers. Bell carried the ball four times on the Steelers’ first offensive drive, but Jonathan Dwyer was on the field with the offense for the Steelers’ second possession.

Bell, meanwhile, was on the bench getting looked at by trainers. The Steelers announced that Bell was done for the night because of a right foot injury a short time later, ending his first NFL game action almost as quickly as it started.

The fear for the Steelers entering the game had to be that Bell would aggravate his knee injury again. Now they’ve got something completely different to worry about in regard to the man they’ve installed at the top of their depth chart at running back.

If LaRod Stephens-Howling isn’t the named starter after that poor showing and injury, then I think the Steelers are actually trying to lose.

He had what 9000! Touches last year. Is anyone shocked he is breaking down already??

Bell had 671 rushing attempts during the 2010-2012 seasons at MSU. He made a hilarious 382 rushing attempts in 2012.

The Steelers replaced Mendenhall with a fresh RB who carried the ball more often than Mendenhall did in the last 3 years. Think about that.

We see the rest of the league is shaking in their cleats of the mere thought of us. We understand your terror and we are trying our best to make your losing experience as enjoyable as possible.

Steeler Nation is a proud Nation. We are carried by the promise of glory. Sometimes we might come across as arrogant, but that is only because our superiority is genuine, as is the league-wide attempt to emulate our model.

We want to sincerely thank the fans of the other thirty-one teams for giving your best shot week in and out. Your efforts do not go unnoticed and we are willing to accept loyal fans to the forthcoming Steeler Football League after our last victory lap in the NFL. Stay tuned for more info regarding that.

I agree, LSH is awesome. I’d love to see him get the start.

You all saying this guy is going to be a bust are wrong. This kid can flat out play. a few minor blip injuries are just bad luck.

  28. tralfaz1127 says: Aug 19, 2013 10:39 PM

stillers are in for the decade of sorrow. Looking up at the cleveland clowns and fighting for 3rd place in the division is now the goal. Love the future of the NFL. WHODEY!!!!!!!!!

  29. sbchampsagain says: Aug 19, 2013 10:50 PM

Who’s this kid trying to play QB for the steelers? Ouch. Sad when the deadskins can beat up on you.

  30. skins716 says: Aug 19, 2013 11:24 PM

  31. tedmurph says: Aug 19, 2013 11:26 PM

I thought he was a BEAST, headed for Canton. Maybe I shouldn’t listen to steeler fans.

  32. bigbenissuperman says: Aug 19, 2013 11:32 PM

That adrian peterson guy had 747 carries in his 3 year run at oklahoma. remind me again how overworked college backs are busts?? It is the preseason, they are taking it light on him to have him when games actually matter.

  33. steelcurtainn says: Aug 19, 2013 11:42 PM

No Worries, get healthy, as long as Bells back starting when the games really count.

  34. richdaddy1231 says: Aug 20, 2013 5:20 AM

Workhorse??? Try china doll what a joke of a rb

  35. olcap says: Aug 20, 2013 6:28 AM

I’m beginning to think that my 5-11 prediction may be too generous.

  36. coachbeck says: Aug 20, 2013 8:37 AM

That OL is terrible. Not one RB can break a big play. They are all slow. No Miller…. Geno Adkins and the rest of the Bengals DL will be hitting Ben a lot

    Poor Ben.

  37. jtbsteeler says: Aug 20, 2013 9:53 AM

Is Bernard Pierce healthy…? Just asking.

  38. eightysixisback says: Aug 20, 2013 10:00 AM

it is preseason. the games don’t count so they are being cautious with him until the games do count. it might be just a little bit early to start calling him a bust but if it makes you happy go right ahead.

  39. scoobies05 says: Aug 20, 2013 10:01 AM

yes…back at practice. and not a starter

  40. axespray says: Aug 20, 2013 1:31 PM

As a Packer fan, I thought our 2012 Oline was bad…. but man, that steeler oline? smh…

Props to Ben for getting anything done with that garbage blocking for him.
