Bucs add Trevor Scott for line reinforcement

Ryan Tannehill, Trevor Scott AP

The effort to light a fire under Da’Quan Bowers continues.

The Buccaneers announced this morning they had signed veteran defensive end Trevor Scott, adding an option to a thin pass-rush group.

Scott had 3.0 sacks for the Patriots last year and has 16.5 in his career (which began with the Raiders).

He’s a solid rotation part for the Bucs, who are trying to push Bowers into becoming more of a player.

While Scott may not be the answer at the position, he can at least serve as a reminder.

    Can you imagine if Da’Quan Bowers had actually been the top pick that people were speculating before his college injury? He would have been a huge bust.

    That makes two University at Buffalo Bulls now with Steve Means also at defensive end. GO BULLS!!!

    Were there no TEs who played at Rutgers available?

    @westampa

    Da’Quan Bowers is not a bust. He’ll do fine. I think perhaps you are jumping the gin a bit.

    Trevor Scott is not a good enough player to replace Da’Quan Bowers.

    The Bucs look bad on paper this year. We have no defense and only a couple bright spots on offense. I’m sure Revis and Martin will hold out. Only Martin should. Revis makes like 40 times what Martin does.

    Even though your call name shows you are a local (TPA), your comment shows you are not a Bucs fan. Neither player will hold out, and our biggest injury concern is easily Carl Nicks, and we are one of the best looking teams ON PAPER in the NFL. It’s the on field part we keep struggling with.
